College Library & Library Rules

The College has a rich Library with a collection of exceeding 10,000 volumes of books, journals and reference books. It has an enriched subscription of journals, newspapers and magazines catering to the needs of faculty and students. The library has a furnished reading room accommodating faculty and students. The students must abide by the rules of the Library
Students must take Library Card for borrowing books. Two books can be borrowed at a time for a period not exceeding 15 (fifteen) days. Books issued can be recalled at any time in case of urgency by the Librarian.
b. Library Card are not transferable.
c. A fine of twenty five (25) paise per book per day will be charged, if the borrowers fail to return the books on due date and Rs. 1.00 per day thereafter will be imposed.
d. Requisition slip must be submitted before one day of issuing the books from the Library.
e. Reference books, newspaper, periodicals and question papers are not allowed to be taken out of the Library. Question papers are available for copying only.
Silence should be maintained in the Library. The Reading Room remains open during the college routine hours.
g. Students must return the library books before filling up the Examination Form. No
students will be allowed to fill up the Examination Form without Library Clearance Certificate.
h. The Librarian
shall bring it to the notice of the Principal, if any student is found to have damaged or misused books, made noise or misbehaved in any other way will make the student liable to disciplinary action.
i. Books will have to be replaced from any source if lost, tom or mutilated in any other way.
j. The students may bring to the notice to the Librarian their grievances if any.
k. The College Library remains open on all
working days of the College from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
I. The days for borrowing of library books may be fixed by the librarian as per convenience.


The college has an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) which monitors various academic, non­ academic and co-curricular activities of the college. The cell keeps correspondence with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and submits Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) to the NAAC. The cell conducts annual departmental inspection of all the teaching departments and prepares academic report which is submitted to the principal. It also monitors the activities of different cells, committees, clubs, student achievements and other quality enhancement activities.


The College has the facility of a Book Bank for the benefit of the poor students. It is a provision for lending text books only to the economically backward students on merit basis. To avail the benefit of the same students will have to apply in a given form to be collected from the Librarian showing a Certificate of Income from the local S.D.C. or Mauzadar or producing the B.P..L. Card. The beneficaries will be selected purely on merit basis from among the applicants. The text book will be issued for one academic year in case of students of Higher Secondary Classes and one semster in case of Degree students and the same will have to be returned by the beneficiaries before the issuing of the admit cards for the final examination.


The members of the teaching staff have at their own initiative launched a modest effort towards establishing eight departmental libraries for the benefit of the students of each department. Emphasis is laid on improving the departmental Libraries with more collection of reference books.


A Student Aid-Fund was established in 2002 in order to provide some financial assistance to meritorios students coming from economically weaker sections of the society. To raise this fund an annual collection of Rs. 20/- from each student is made. The Aid-Fund Committee , after taking into consideration all aspects of the applications, decides the amount of aid to be given to a particular students. Aid will be given to students who are not only poor but also meritorious, regular in attendance and have good performance in extra-curricular activities.


a. SC/ST Scholarship.

b. OBC/ MOBC/TGL scholarship. Scholarship is paid to the students through A/C payee cheque only.

c. Best Student Award : An Award is decided to be given annually to a student selected as the best student through continuous observation of his/her conduct, attendance , performance in the class as well as extra curricular activities by a committee of teachers entrusted by the Principal for the purpose.

d. The Most Regular Student Award : A student from each class is selected for the "Most Regular Student Award" for the highest percentage of attendance . The eligibility criterion for this award is minimum 85% attendance in class.

e. Teachers of the college also offer financial support to the economically deprived students personally.


Education in computer application has been introduced as a Certificate Course for 3 (three) months in the college. Desirous students can enroll their names for the course at the cost of Rs. 450/- initially, Rs. 50/- being the admission fees and Rs. 400/- being tuition fees for the first two months. Students will have to pay Rs. 200/ as tuition fees in the last month.
Students of H.S. 1st year commerce will be given theorical knowledge on computer application free of cost once in a week. However, interested students may enroll their names for the certificate course under the above mentioned procedure.


A Remedial Course for the academically weak students belonging to SC and ST students has been introduced in the college to enable them to stand shoulder to shoulder with other students. The course is offered after the scheduled classes are offered.


Sarupathar College Students' Union is the General Body of the students of the College. Its membership is compulsory for each student of the College. Office bearers of the Union are elected annually thorough a democratic process. For contesting in any portfolio in the election, students must have minimum 75% attendance in the class as per the Supreme Court's direction. He must also be polite and amicable.


The college has provision for scout and guide. Students will have to face an interview to get selected in the list of 30 students for Scout and Guide. Thereafter training is imparted to selected students by the trained teachers. The scout and guide wing of the college has been displaying its attainments at various field.


There is a National Service Scheme in the college. Students may join it to get experience in community service. The college has been interacting with rural communities through various programmes of the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit since 1983.


This Cell provides information and guidance regarding various courses, jobs and orgamses workshops for the upliftment of the students.


The college UGC-Network Resource Centre provides all-round facilities for accessing college Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facility. It provides free internet connectivity to students in the college hours.


The cell provides training for various competitive examinations such as Banking,Civil Service, Defence Service SSC, etc. to the students with a very nominal fee. There is also a separate library for providing reading materials for competitive examination.


The Natures club came into being with an aim to keep students abreast of the significant part played by nature in human life the Natures' Club came into being. Its basic purpose is to encourage the students for plantation of more and more number of trees of various species and preserving them to make the environment pollution free and help the mankind live a healthy life. The Natures' Club of the college has already set up a Medical Plantation Garden to give the students knowledge of herbal medicine.


The College has different sports facilities like cricket, football, boxing, athletics, volley ball and it extends support to tournaments conducted by the Dibrugarh University for the students.
