(i) A student who has less than 80% attendance shall not be permitted to sit for the End Semester examination in the course in which the shortfall exists.
However, it shall be open to the University to grant exemption to student who has attended a minimum of 70% classes but failed to obtain the prescribed 80% attendance for valid reasons on recommendation of the Head of the institution on payment of prescribed fee(s).
(ii) The Principal of the college/ institution with recommendation of the Heads of the Department shall announce the names of all students who shall not be eligible to appear in the End Semester examination due to non-fulfilment of the criteria of internal assessment and attendance, and send a copy of the same to the University. In such cases, the student shall have to re-enroll in the relevant course(s) with the next batch.
Examination and Evaluation
(i) Examination and evaluation shall be done from time to time.
(ii) There shall be 20% marks for internal assessment and 80% marks for End Semester examination in each course during every semester.
(iii) There shall be no provision for re-evaluation of the answer-scripts of the End Semester examinations. However, a candidate may apply for re-scrutiny.
(i) In internal assessment, different tools may be employed such as written tests, assignments, paper presentation, laboratory work, etc. as demanded by the course. The procedure for Internal Assessment will be as per the guidelines of Dibrugarh University.
(ii) The students shall be informed in advance about the nature of assessment. They shall compulsorily attend the process of internal assessment, failing which they will not be allowed to appear in the End Semester examination. A student cannot repeat In-Semester examinations. However, if a student fails to appear in any of the In-Semester examination on valid reasons, the department concerned may arrange special in-semester examination.
End Semester Examination
(i) There shall be one End Semester examination carrying 80% marks in each course of a Semester covering the entire syllabus prescribed for the course. The End Semester examination is normally a written one I Project Work I Dissertation.
(ii) The Controller of Examinations shall make necessary arrangements for notifying the dates of the End Semester examinations and other procedures as per Dibrugarh University Rules (at least 20 days in advance) and the Academic Calender notified by the University.
(iii) Normally, the End Semester examination for each course shall be of three hour duration.
(iv) Setting of question papers, moderation of question papers, evaluation of answer scripts, scrutiny, tabulation of marks, etc. and announcement of results, shall be governed by the Dibrugarh University Examination Ordinance 1972 (as amended up to date)
(i) A student shall be entitled to take the betterment examinations only once in any two theory courses of any of the six semesters after passing the sixth semester examination. In this case, the higher marks secured by the student shall be retained . The candidate shall have to apply for betterment examination within one year of passing the sixth semester examination.
(ii) No betterment shall be allowed in the practical examinations.
(iii) Any difficulty which may arise in the course of operation of these regulations relating to commencement of examinations shall be met up by the Examination Committee of the Dibrugarh University.
General Rules for Maintenance of Discipline among Students
(i) All the students of the college are required to maintain a high standard of discipline and obey the rules and regulation of the college.
(ii) The students admitted to the college must abide by all rules and regulations as prescribed by the college authorities. Violation of rules, unsatisfactory progress, irregular attendance, irregular clearance of college fees, showing discourtesy to the teachers and other members of the staff in any form, adoption of unfair means during examination etc., are some of the offences which may make students liable for disciplinary action like imposition of fine, non-award of college certificate, forced transfer and even expulsion from the college.
(iii) All forms of ragging in the college campus are prohibited. Strong disciplinary action, as the college authorities deem fit, (following the direction of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India) may be taken if anyone is found to be involved directly or indirectly in ragging.
(iv) UNIFORM : The following garments are prescribed as the College Uniform for the students
(i) White shirt and black full pant for boys; and
(ii) blue Kurta, white Pyzama and white Dopatta or white Chadar Mekhela with blue border and Blue blouse for girls.
Every instance of violating the uniform will be penalized with a fine of Rs. 100/
(v) The courses offered by Sarupathar College are full time courses. No student can take any other full time course simultaneously.
(vi) Student societies and associations may be fonned subject to rules and regulations prescribed by the college administration from time to time.
(vii) Only such societies and associations recognized by the Head of Institution can avail the facilities within college premises.
(viii) Any notice desired to be pasted or circulated by the students anywhere in the college premises needs approval of the college authority.
(ix) Use of mobile phones inside college campus is strictly prohibited. In case of detection of violating the rule, his or her guardian will be called for.
(x) All powers of maintenance of discipline are vested with the Head of the Institution and his decisions are final in all matters.
Renewal of Fees
Students promoted to Higher Secondary second year and B.A./B.Com to next semester classes on the basis of result declared by AHSEC/D.U. shall have to deposit college fees at the cash counter within two weeks of the declaration ofresults. The exact date will be notified by the office of the Principal.
College Identity Card and its Renewal
College Identity Cards are issued annually. Old Identity Card is to be surrendered at the end of each academic session for renewal.
